Florida was discovered by a Spanish explorer. This state became a part of United States (Union) on March 3rd, 1845. The current capital city of the state is Tallahassee. Florida is also known as Sunshine State. It is very well know state for its natural beauty, lovely weather and plentiful sunshine. Every year a large number of tourists visit the Miami Beach, Palm Beach and St. Augustine. Alabama and Georgia are its neighboring states. It is surrounded by Gulf of Mexico (west coast) and Atlantic Ocean (East Coast). On southern side there is the Caribbean Sea, which connects Gulf and the Ocean. The economy of the state is based on tourism and manufacturing, as well as agriculture. The important industry products are electronics appliances as well as printing and publishing related manufactured goods. Transportation machinery and equipments also contribute very well to the economy of state. The leading agricultural products are various kinds of fruits and vegetables.
