The camera is situated at Slochd Railway Cottages (altitude 1200ft) near the Slochd summit pass (1400ft) on the A9 trunk road Inverness-shire...one of the first high level roads to become blocked in adverse winter conditions! The camera faces SW towards the forest and the main Invernesss rail line. The area is is a well known spot for it's rare birdlife, mountain bike trails and Wade roads and in the winter the forest nordic ski trails.
